The release of the latest album by the Spanish Gypsy Land in the United States and France features a duet with the Egyptian singer Anoshka and the band’s lead singer Keko Mants. The Gypsy Land band was previously known as the Gypsy Kings, who are very well liked and popular in the Middle East and Asia.

The London based Al Sharq Al Awsat, reported that Anoshka consideres this duet as the most important musical work she has accomplished lately. She also added that the fact she was given the chance to perform with an international star was enough to make this an overwhelming experience. In the duet, Keko sings the lyrics in Spanish, and Anoshka sings the same lyrics in Arabic.

The song is entitled “Salam” (Peace), however Anoshka stresses that his is not the peace that is often referred to in the “political” sense, but rather the Spanish understanding of the word. It refers to the love of nature, human kind, and singing, which, according to the Spaniards, is the main factor that moves people closer together.

The daily reported that the album was recorded late August last year, and scheduled for release late November of the same year. The September 11th incident cause the release to be postponed until lately after people mellowed down.

On a different note, Anoshka is currently in the process of enriching her acting career by playing a role in a new film. She refused to give any specific details about the movie, only commenting that it is a musical performance.

Anoshka regards video clips as a group of models twisting their bodies in indecent outfits around singers. She believes that as dancers, they have no talent to show. To her dancing is an art in which she expresses herself through, “I would like to live normally. I do not like to stand on the stage with restrictions as I quickly interact with cadence. What I perform is not show but rather rhythmic movements that are consistent with the musical tunes,” Anoshka commented. -Albawaba.com
