Antony Peebles Performs Musical Concert in UAE
British pianist Antony Peebles performed a concert Tuesday at the Cultural Compound (Concerto Piano) in Abu Dhabi, in which he performed musical pieces by world prominent musicians, such as Rossini, Shopan and others.
The concert was arranged by Abu Dhabi Group for Music in cooperation with the British embassy in UAE.
The event was sponsored by Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Antony Peebles won in 1971 the BBC Piano Competition (with a unanimous vote from the jury), and the following year he won the Debussy Competition in France.
Since then Peebles has maintained a very busy performing career. The main feature of this has been the remarkable amount of overseas touring it has entailed: Peebles has now given solo recitals in, astonishingly, 122 different countries. The most recent additions to the list were China, Taiwan, British Virgin Islands, Salvador, Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. Peebles also appears regularly as classical pianist giving recitals aboard P & O's four cruise ships ('Oriana', 'Aurora', 'Arcadia' and 'Victoria').
From the mid 70s to the present time he has performed worldwide as part of the Georgiadis/Peebles Duo, a partnership with violinist John Georgiadis – Albawaba.com
