Arab Artists, Singers Perform Operetta ‘Jerusalem Our Land’
Large number of Egyptian and Arab artists and singers participated in the operetta al Quds Arduna (Jerusalem, Our Land) as part of the artistic solidarity commemoration entitled ‘Palestine Day’ which was held Sunday at the Opera House in Cairo, according to the daily al Ahram.
The operetta was written by Medhat al Adel, composed by Riyadh al Hamshari and performed by large number of singers and artists who raised the Palestinian flag at the end of the event.
The event was attended by the Arab League Secretary General, Amr Mousa and the Palestinian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Nabil Shaath. The participants started with a call for peace lovers worldwide to move in order to stop the Israeli massacres in Palestine and a salute to the symbol of resistance, the Palestinian president Yaser Arafat.
The Egyptian actress Laila Olwi took the stage to say, “on behalf of every Egyptian mother and every Egyptian and Arab artist, I would like to forward a message to martyrs Wafaa Edris and Ayat al Akhras. You have raised our heads high in the sky. We know that there are persons among you who will raise the Palestinian flag on the al Aqsa sooner or later.”
The hall was rocked with the artists shouting the slogan: Our Blood For Palestine.
The TV announcer Tareq Allam and the secretary of the Palestinian Red Crescent, Mohammed Zaghlool announced a campaign for money and blood donation to rescue the Palestinian people through the Arab Bank account no. 756350, Misr al Gadidah branch -- Albawaba.com
