Anthropologists wrote that the Kurd culture, i.e., language, if joined in five different countries, including Iraq, would perhaps number 25 million. One of the political problems of "drawing lines in the sand". Years before the conflict I studied some archaeology of the region with Elizabeth Stone, PhD who was working with Donny George to recover stolen artifacts in the multi-national invasion. Sadly Mr. George passed on. We are sometimes taught that the "Fertile Crescent" between the Tigris and Euphrates was the "cradle of civilization" and it attracted many to it.

It is very sad to see the state that the Arab World is now and has been for generations but very few is asking why and if there is any chance of revival. The Arab world should deny people like Ahlam Al Shamsi a platform from which she poisons people. Selfishness has done no good to no one and never prolonged even if it has done it. The boundaries that Madam Ahlam lives within, was not defined neither by her father nor by her grand, grand father. She seem to have done well in the area of arts but I am not sure if she is wise to stick her nose into other peoples and other nations affairs. Kurdistan Region is a legal entity that the vast majority of the Iraqi people voted for and it is enshrined in the constitution of Iraq. Where was Madam Ahlam when her Arab Saddam lunched the Anfal (In the name of Quraan) and genocide to eradicate Kurds from their land. Perhaps she was cheering and drinking with every inch of Kurdish land invaded and filled by Arabs from other parts of Arab Land. Is that what makes progress and revival possible? Is the denial of other identities strengthening your personal identity? and there are many other questions on these lines.
Let us accept each other for what we are and what we want to be. Let us live in peace and contribute to humanity. Let us serve our people by educating them on these lines.
