A glittering gathering of 26 top singers will grace the stage at the 10th Arab Music Festival. Musicians from 17 Arab countries will perform 21 concerts at the Egyptian Opera House for the November 1-10 event, according to the Egyptian newspapers.
The head of the preparatory committee for the festival, Ratiba Al Hafni, announced during a press conference held on Saturday that 17 Arab countries would participate in the festival, including Egypt, Syria, Palestine, Libya, Morocco, Kuwait, Tunisia, Bahrain and Iraq.
“The festival aims to protect Arab music from falling into oblivion, and to present an evaluated Arab art which improves the Arab taste in art,” said Hafni.
Twenty-six Arab singers will participate in the star-studded event, including Sabah Fakhri (Syria), Jalal Harb, Mohammed Amin, May Farouq, Afaf Radi, Amal Maher, Ghada Rajab, Ahmed Al Sunbati (Egypt), Mua’in Al Sharif, Wael Jassar (Lebanon), Kamilia Jubran (Palestine), Farida (Iraq), Raja Belmlih (Morocco) and Thekra (Tunisia).
“For the first time, two concerts will be allocated for the music of Riyad Al Subati and Baligh Hamdi,” musician Helmi Baker said.
A number of Arab music pioneers will be honored at the festival, including the late singer Laila Murad, poet Ahmed Shafiq Kamel, singer Sabah Fakhri, composer Ibrahim Rajab, and Nasser Al Anssari, who initiated the idea of the festival - Albawaba.com
