Arab Stars Celebrate Jordan’s Independence Anniversary
A number of Arab singers participated in Jordan’s celebrations of independence anniversary with performing Sunday evening the national operetta Amman in Our Hearts at the Royal Cultural Center, attended by King Abdullah II and his wife Queen Rania al Abdullah of Jordan as well as a number of Arab high officials.
The operetta tells the story of the independence of Jordan and its development. It featured many Arab singers including Kuwaiti singer Abdullah al Ruwaished, Ali Abdel Sattar from Qatar, Asala Nassri from Syria, Ghada RaGab from Egypt, Thekra from Tunisia and many others.
In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), al Ruwaished expressed his joy for taking part in this event saying, “it is a modest contribution to strengthen relations between the two countries which the Amir Sheikh Jaber al Ahmed al Jaber al Sabah is keen to maintain."
He added, “the invitation by the Jordanian culture ministry is in itself an appreciation and honor for its people and its art.”
Other Arab celebrities attended the celebration including actress Hayat al Fahed and actor Mohammed al Mansour from Kuwait and Egyptian film stars, Yousef Shaaban, Hussein Fahmi, Sami al Adel, Samiha Ayyoub, Laila Elwi, Samir Sabri, Khaled Zaki Riyad al Khuli and others, in addition to Syrian stars, Ayman Zeidan, Salma al Massri, Asaad Fedda and Maha al Saleh and many other Arab actors and actresses.
The concert was presented by George Qerdahi.
The 45-minute operetta has been produced by the Jordanian Amal Establishment for Art Production in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture. It was scripted by poet Habib al Zuyoodi and composed by singer Omar al Abdullat -- Albawaba.com
