Asala Int’l Fest to open in Egypt
The second Asala International Festival will kick off Saturday evening in the Egyptian City of al Areesh and will continue for one week, according to the daily al Gomhuria.
During the opening session many artists will be honored including the Egyptian actress Laila Elwi, the Oscar winning international actor Maximilian Shell, the Syrian actress Muna Wasef and the German artist Lezel Bonger in addition to the festival’s sponsors and formation artists from al Areesh.
The opening ceremony will include speeches by the governor of North Sinai, Ahmed Abdel Hamid, Austrian ambassador to Cairo Ferdenad Trotma Nesdorov and the festival’s head Desouqi Said.
The speakers will explain the festival’s objectives for getting people together and helping them gain access to art and culture in addition to the role of the festival in connecting peoples together through top level cultural dialogues such as films and cultural conferences.
The al Areesh Pop Art Troupe will portray some of its dance shows at the opening ceremony. The concluding ceremony will include screening of the film Listen, Hush directed by Sherif Arafah and starring Laila Elwi who will be honored by screening her films Ah Ya Balad, Went and Never Came Back and Ya Dunia Ya Gharami throughout the festival -- Albawaba.com
