Syrian singer Asalah Nasri, who is currently on a visit to Egypt, has announced at a conference for one of the women’s charity organizations that she has created a new organization under the name of “Al Afa Organization” in Paris and which many different branches have stemmed to the US and throughout Europe. The organization calls on women to dress more conservatively and lead a respectable way of life.
According to the Al Watan daily, Asalah revealed that the organization’s members have now reached over 3 million female. She added that she despises and is strongly against female singers who dress in an inappropriate ways and use their bodies to reach fame.
Nasri is scheduled to held a concert at the Cairo Opera House in Egypt on February 27, 2004, after which she will head to Abu Dhabi in the UAE to take part in an operetta. The operetta is part of a charitable event, which proceeds will go to needy children.
Asalah has held a concert at the Dubai Shopping Festival Dubai Nights Festival, only her concert was not aired live on television due to technical difficulties. The matter which caused her to become very disappointed, stressing that she refuses to hold any more performances if they are not broadcasted live like the concerts of all the other singers taking part in the festival.
Asalah’s concert was marked with success with an audience of over 1000 mostly Syrians living in Dubai. The singer sang for two hours, revealing she had hoped to be on stage for a longer time due to the fact that her voice becomes stronger after the second hour. –Albawaba.com
