Lebanese singer Assi Hilani will be traveling to the UAE to promote his latest album “Dakat Albi” (My Heartbeats), which he released two months ago. The event will take place at the beginning of March and the singer will hold a press conference to talk about the new album.

Assi was recently held guest on the weekly program “Alyoum Al Sabie” (The Seventh Day) on the Arab satellite television channel MBC with host Mahmoud Saed. On the show Assi announced that he is in the process of reaching an agreement to star in a new historical television drama series and will be playing the role of an Arab knight.

The drama will be filmed in Syria and Lebanon and will be directed by a Syrian director, whose identity has not yet been revealed.

In the drama, Assi will not be performing any songs and his role will be solely dependent on his acting capabilities.

The singer also stated in the show that he does not consider himself to be a politician and only thinks of himself as an Arab singer with a message to unite.

According to the London based Elaph, Assi stressed that he does not sell his compositions and if he gives a composition to someone it is only in the form of a gift.

Hilani has celebrated the release of his most recent album "Dakat Albi", the first under his new production company ‘Rotana.’

During a press conference in Cairo, Assi said that the album was supposed to be released in the summer of 2005, but was postponed.

Assi said that he deviated from releasing romantic songs during the past two years, instead concentrating on patriotic songs that witnessed tremendous success.

The new album features fourteen romantic songs along with a new music video for the song “Sa’alo Anni” (They Asked about Me) under the direction of Saeed Al Marouq.

Assi revealed that he and Syrian singer Asalah Nasri are preparing for a duet to be sung in the Lebanese dialect.
