Athar al Hakim to be Honored With ‘Golden Amenhotep’ Statue

The General Organization for Cultural Palaces in Egypt will honor Wednesday the renowned actress Athar al Hakim by donating her the golden statue of Amenhotep which the agency usually donates to innovators in the various art and cultural fields. 

The agency will also dedicate one week for screening the actress’s films. 

“A number of the actress’s films which depict the stages of her career will be screened. These include al Malaeen (Shrewd), Hobb Fawq Hadabet al Haram (Love Over Pyramid Hill), Qanoon Eika (Eika Law), Tair Fi al Sama (Bird in the Sky), and Fuqaraa La Yadkhuloon al Ganna (Poor Who won’t Go to Paradise),” the agency head, Anas al Feqi told the London based daily al Sharq al Awsat, indicating that the dedication of the week comes in appreciation of Hakim’s original art. 

He added, “The only play directed by Abdel Rahman al Shafe’i and starred by Hakim, al Umm Yasmin (Mother Jasmine) which was staged during Ramadan as part of the agency celebrations will also be portrayed. This is in addition to holding forums that shed light on the artistic and humanitarian sides of the actress. 

A number of actors are expected to attend these forums including Mamdouh Abdel A’lim and Muna Zaki in addition to directors Samir Saif and Medhat al Sibae’i and critic Rafiq al Sabban who will tackle the actress’ art career. The cinema critic Tareq al Shinnawi will run an open dialogue between Hakim and her audience on her films screened as part of the week’s celebrations -- Albawaba.com
