Egyptian actress Athar al Hakim will participate in the two conferences to be held in Germany on June 22 and 23 for the purpose of familiarization with the Palestinian issue and correcting the Arabs’ image which has been inscribed in the minds of westerners particularly in the aftermath of September 11 attacks in the United States.
“My participation in the two conferences in Germany has come in response to an invitation extended to me by the Arab community in collaboration with al Shams Club’s Cultural committee,” Hakim told the London-based Arabic daily al Sharq al Awsat.
She added, “the artist has a role in supporting his country’s national and political issues. I have been dreaming of participation in an artwork about the Palestinian Intifada since its eruption.”
Hakim said, “I had a project on the topic but it faced censor and production obstacles. It is a story written by Mohammed Salmawi, scripted by Mohammed al Bsousi and directed by Ahmed Khader. Now after many years my dreams will come true as the project will be implemented to depict the uprising of the Palestinian people with an elite group of Arab artists participating in it.”
“Writers Salah Eissa, Eqbal Barakeh and Ahmed Yousef and others will participate in the conference which will include a concert to be performed by the Tunisian singer Lutfi Bushnaq in support for the Palestinian uprising,” added Hakim -- Albawaba.com
