Bahraini Orchestra presents ‘Salute to Palestine’

Bahrain Orchestra for Arabic Music performed last week a concert entitled Salute to Palestine, at the Art Center in the Bahraini capital Manama, according to the London-based daily al Hayat. 

The orchestra performed seven songs and one piece of music entitled Samai Ziman composed by Khalifa Ziman. The concert was dominated by the eastern style as the orchestra based mainly on the eastern music instruments.  

Ziman also put music for three songs, Taqaddamu (move forward) which is a poem by the renowned Palestinian poet Samih al Qasem and performed by the chorus; the second is al Mughanni (the singer) written by the late poet Tawfiq Ziyad and performed by Fawzi al Shaer; the third song is Etizar (an apologize) written by the prominent Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish. 

The two singers Hussein Yousef and Layali performed the duet song Yama Ardak (your land, my son) written by the poet Mesfer al Dosari. The song was composed by Khalifa Ziman along with Salman Ziman. However, the Bahraini audience interacted warmly with this song as it was performed in the popular Bahraini dialect. 

Moreover, the orchestra performed Babel, a poem by Samih al Qasem, composed by Ali al Deiri and sung by the chorus, and Qabl al Hassad (before harvest) written by the poet Muin Bseiso, composed by Essam al Jodar and sung by Tawfiq al Rayyes – Albawaba.com
