Syrian artist Bassam Kusa has wrapped up the direction of his short film Dawalik, his third work since the film Flash, in which he played the starring role.

Nother of his films has been Sahra Muhathabah (Descent Evening), based on his anthology Nuss Liss (Half Thief).

Kusa plans to enter his new work in the Damascus International Film Festival's short film contest, which will be held on November 3, according to the UAE daily Al Bayan.

The film, which lasts no more than 10 minutes, tells the story of a sick man on the verge of death. However, all of those looking after his health die before him.

The film raises a huge question with political and social overtones, and satirically and imaginatively tackles the negative impact of wasting society's resources.

The film was produced by the Syrian Cinema General Corp. and was kept in the drawers for two years, until only recently, when it was given the green light.

Kusa shot scenes in Damascus, and enlisted costars Fares Al Hilo, Said Abdel Salam, Samer Omran, Samar Kokash and Basel Khayyat - Albawaba.com
