Egypt's reigning belly dancer Dina, connoting glamour, grace and forbidden pleasures in her dancing, recently faced a problem with the Egyptian censorship in her latest movie, "Haramoh Fi Al Wizara" (His Wife in the Ministry).
The movie, which also stars comedian Ahmed Adam, sparked debate in Egypt as the censorship asked for the omission of five scenes where Dina appears to be dancing in an indecent, hot and seductive way.
Marking the second problem for her with the censorship after her movie "Jasad Zaojati" (My Wife's Body) with Mahmoud Hamida, Dina refused to comment on the news, but went on explaining her role in the movie.
Earlier this month, in her quest to enhance belly-dancing position in the world and in Egypt in particular, Dina, together with former belly dancer Zizi Mustafa, were finally able to negotiate for the foundation of an Oriental Dancing Union.
"We are eager to enhance the position of belly dancing in Egypt in particular. We are also looking to boost the social, cultural and artistic levels of dancers in Egypt," the statement sent to the Egyptian Ministry of Social Affairs had stated.
Dina's love for dancing started at the age of nine, showing several talents in acting, dancing, and playing music. During the course of her life, she lived in Rome, where her father worked for the Middle East news agency in Rome.
Dancing was not an easy career, and Dina had to battle for her family's approval. Yet, she is now one of the most gifted Egyptian dancers, with a master's degree in philosophy. – Albawaba.com
