A Cairo civil affairs court announced next Saturday to be the date for the hearing of Egyptian singer Hakim over the divorce case filed by his first wife, lawyer Marwa Ibrahim, according to the London based daily Al Sharq Al Awsat.

Hakim's wife filed for divorce in October following her husband's act of betrayal with another woman.

Marwa expressed resentment to her husband's 'unbearable' acts, which started a year ago with his frequent absence from home. "He used to leave us behind with no money, he showed no attention or care to me or his two kids," explained Marwa.

Hakim, appeared before the court in Cairo after assaulting his wife in a furnished apartment at the upscale neighborhood of Azzamalek, when she walked in on him and his secretary whilst 'in the act', which he later claimed to be his second wife.

Following the incident, witnesses confirmed that the singer went on to beat his wife in front of the neighbors after a squabble broke out between the two.

Marwa told the newspaper that she insists on the divorce even if Hakim apologizes in all magazines and newspapers, "my decision is final and I'm not going to give up any of my legal rights, which might amount to one million pounds in financial compensation," said Marwa.

Among the cases filed by Marwa, Hakim’s secretary filed a suit against Marwa for intrusion to her apartment without permission and breaking most of her furniture. Hakim for his part has admitted to marrying his secretary during the incident. – Albawaba.com
