Lebanese singer Maya Nasri has recently completed a short tour around the Arab world, where she held a number of successful concerts in Syria and Jordan. The singer’s performance in Jordan was noted as an extremely successful one in which an audience of over three thousand, some of which were important and elite figures, interacted with her in ways indescribable showing the amount of popularity the singer holds.

According to the London based Elaph, the singer was also held a guest on the Lebanese radio station “Sout Al Ghad” (Voice of Tomorrow), in which she celebrated her birthday with all her fans, answering callers questions and talking about her upcoming plans. The singer revealed that she is gearing for a tour in Canada starting early September alongside Lebanese singer Assi Hilani and impersonator Bassem Faghali.

The singer’s Canada tour is as follows:

Friday September 5 in Montreal

Saturday September 6 in Windsor

Friday September 12 in Toronto

Saturday September 13 in Halifax

And Sunday September 14 in Ottow, after which the singer will head to the United States of America to hold a tour.

Recently, Nasri strongly refused an offer by Egyptian actor Farouq Al Fishawi to star in a new film he has been preparing for. Farouq had offered Maya a leading role as a Lebanese singer in the film who is very successful but has no values for social ethics and her only concern is to cheat wealthy men out of their money in any means possible. Maya stressed that no matter how much money she is offered for the role, she will not under any circumstance accept such a part that hurts the reputation of Lebanese. She added that she has too much respect for her profession and for all Lebanese woman and will not take part in anything that shows otherwise.

Maya noted that she holds great respect towards Farouq and is pleased he had nominated her to star in his film, but wished that the role was in favor of Lebanese singers showing how their music has broken through to the top of music charts and found acceptance worldwide, not against them.

Maya is planning to release her latest music video, which was filmed in Egypt, on all local and satellite TV stations. The new album features a collection of songs sung in the Lebanese and Egyptian styles and was composed and written by prominent poets artists from both countries. Maya had recorded some of the songs in Egypt during one of her visits. Maya chose the song “Low Indak Kalb” (If You Had a Heart) to be the main one to hold the album’s title, which she also filmed in the form of music video in Egypt under the direction of Ahmad Al Mahdi. The clip is to be first aired first on the Lebanese Broadcasting Company (LBC) satellite channel. - Albawaba.com
