Charles Aznavour to Sing at Cairo Fest

Preparations are underway for Cairo 8th International Song Festival which will be inaugurated in mid August 2002.  

The secretary general of the daily al Gomhuria Hilmi Baker said that Summits Night would be the most important program this session would witness and in which 12 singers from Egypt and the Arab world will participate with short songs not exceeding six minutes each and after which the star will secure the festival’s shield. 

H added, “the opening and concluding ceremonies will witness big changes that are different from previous sessions and that would be aired to the entire globe under he direction of Smir Saif. 

The Argentinean symphony orchestra will participate in the opening ceremony through performing a unique Tango Show to be followed by 8 songs by Angham on 8 different sets as some sort of fascination and to break the traditional way of singing. 

This year’ festival has more than one surprise including the presence of two guests of honor: Wardah and Charles Aznavour and the performance of concerts in front of the Pyramids for the purpose of activating artistic tourism in Sharm al Sheikh, Hardagha, Luxor, Aswan and other touristic attractions -- Albawaba.com
