A high-level Chechnyan delegation currently visiting Cairo attended a special screening of Mohammed Hineidi’s recent film Gaana Al Bayan Al Tali, according to the Egyptian daily Al Ahram.
The film attracted the attention of the Chechnyan delegation, which includes the son of the breakaway state’s president, an assistant foreign minister and other top diplomats, for the way it handles the Chechnyan issue.
Hineidi, whose TV presenter character ends up getting in trouble with his boss for his coverage of the uprising against Russia, was given a Chechnyan flag in real life.
Hineidi’s character, sent to cover the events in war-torn Chechnya, loses both his cool and his objectivity, breaking into a fiery soliloquy about the international community and the Muslim world remaining silent in the face of the Russian attack on their Chechnyan brothers.
The two-minute scene is also played for laughs, when Hineidi’s microphone catches fire after a bomb goes off nearby.
Last year, Hineidi also got feedback from a foreign country for remarks he made in a film. But in the case of Belia Wa Demagho Al Alya (Belia's Big Head) the Yemeni embassy did not quite appreciate one of the young comic's remarks during the film, which they felt belittled Yemenis, according to cairolive.com – Albawaba.com
