Court reconvicts Suzan Tamim’s killers
The Egyptian Court of
Cassation has reconvicted Egyptian businessman Hisham Talaat Mustafa to 15
years with hard labor in jail and Egyptian police official Muhsin Al Sukari for
life. They two men were sentenced after
being found guilty of killing Lebanese singer Suzan Tamim.
The final court made
has put a final end to the drama that began in 2008 when Suzan was murdered. The
two defendants had at first filed an appeal when the first court verdict was
made by the general court and was confirmed in the retrial held at the court f
cessation.
When Suzan was
murdered, controversy broke out in Egypt, Lebanon and the UAE, which was where
the crime took place. The Dubai police had found Suzan murdered in her
apartment and when Muhsin was arrested he confessed that Hisham had offered him
two million US dollars to kill Suzan.
Reports had it that
Suzan and Hisham were intimately involved while she resided in Egypt but they
broke up when she decided to move to the UAE. It was added that Hisham wanted
to get back at Suzan for leaving him and so arranged to have her killed.
