Dania al Khatib’s New Album Blends World Music
EMI released the third album for the Lebanese singer Dania al Khatib under the title al Hilwa Di (This Beauty) last Friday evening at Virgin Megastore in Central Beirut amid heavy crowd of journalists and her art lovers.
“I have maintained my style since my debut in the song Yalla Bina Yalla. This style is characterized by blending the eastern art with the western art. Each of my albums reflects maturity of ideas and sounds,” Dania told the daily al Nahar.
She pointed out that the song words were Lebanese in which the eastern and western cadences are parallel. Some songs belong to Latin art in their remake. The cassette is diversified, she added.
This is not the first time in which Dania records old songs again as she in her first album remade the song Yalla Bina Yalla and in the second she remade Sabah’s Ya Dala’ which was composed by the late prominent musician Farid al Atrash. Recently she has remade the song al Hilwa Di (This Beauty) by Sayyed Darwish. She said, “we have been raised up with old songs some of which I remade because I liked.”
“I have shot the song al Hilwa Di (This Beauty) in the video clip style in Cuba under the direction of the French Canadian director Vansan Agreigh. The theme of the clip is similar to a song about a poor street these days but the hope of its tenants in future is big. They live with optimism, aspiration and happiness, which apply, to Cuba. The director chose Cuba for its proximity to Canada and the beautiful sites for shooting,” added Dania.
Earlier, the Lebanese singer recorded a duet entitled Mustaheel (Impossible) with the Argentine Lamoska Tsi Tsi Dancing Troupe -- Albawaba.com
