Fans of VH1 voted the Dave Matthews Band their favorite group at the cable music channel's second annual music awards event in Los Angeles.
Through the channel's website, music fans suggested award categories, picked the finalists, and voted for the winners up to the moment the awards were presented live on television.
Live performances included Creed, Nelly Furtado, Sting, Mary J. Blige and Jewel, along with a duet with Mick Jagger and Lenny Kravitz.
At the event Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora together performed George Harrison's hit Here Comes the Sun, as a tribute to the late Beatle.
Bono, Gwen Stefani, Nelly Furtado, Mary J. Blige and others won in the Best Collaboration category for their video titled What's Going On.
Lenny Kravitz was voted best male artist, and Gwen Stefani was voted best female artist.
The Dave Matthews Band also won in the category of Best Song for The Space Between, and in the Best Album category for Everyday.
Lady Marmalade, performed by Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya, and Pink were voted best video performance, while Bon Jovi won in the Hottest Live Show category.
And Staind's It's Been Awhile won in the Most Overplayed Song category.
The event was hosted by a gaggle of celebrities that included actors Ellen Degeneres, Jenna Elfman, Christian Slater and Kelsey Grammer -- AFP
