The cinema union in Egypt refused to segregate the famous controversial director, Enas al Deghaidi, and withdraw her union's membership, in a meeting held Thursday, headed by Mamdouh Al Laith.
The Saudi daily, Al Riyadh reported Saturday that the union decided to interfere in the lawsuit filed against Deghaidi by an Egyptian lawyer from Alexandria asking for the segregation of the director from the cinema union. The lawyer claimed that the director's most recent movie "Muthakkarat Murahiqah" (Adolescent Memoirs) holds many sex scenes and violates the public morals in Egypt.
"The movie was accepted by the censorship, and thus nobody has the right to ask for Deghaidi's segregation," Al Laithi told the newspaper.
Last month, Deghaidi, who is mostly recognized for her courage in addressing women's issues, was able to talk actress Yusra into starring in her new movie "Nisaa' Bila Tajarob" (Women Without Experience), marking the fifth cooperation between the two. The four movies were, "Imra'a Wahida La Takfi" (One Woman Is Not Enough) in 1990, "Dantella" in 1998, "Kalam al Leil" (Night Talks) in 1999, and "Al Warda al Hamra" (The Red Rose) in 2001. – Albawaba.com
