Egyptian belly dancer Dina has lately been the highlight of all tabloids with articles featuring the dancer’s involvement in pornographic videotapes with a businessman to facing problems with the Egyptian censors for the production of her new movie. Dina’s latest interview held on MBC satellite channel as the guest of Mahmoud Said’s show “Ala Waraq” (On Paper) caused a number of Saudi local newspapers to go into rage.
According to the Saudi based daily, Al Watan, the theme of the show was the educated respected and honorable dancer who was called in to talk about the scandal she was involved in. The daily reported that labeling the dancer as educated and honorable is a complete misconception of what she actually is. How can a dancer who was involved in pornographic films be referred to as respectable? And what motive would there be for such a respectable TV station to want to host such persons? Has the Arab world run out of issues to talk about to want to discuss a dancer’s disgrace?
The daily added that how can a person involved in so many disgraces and shameful events be considered with any form of respect. The dancer’s interview was referred to as a complete joke with a devious woman trying to appear innocent in front of viewers.
The dancer’s latest dancing videos featuring a number of performances of Dina without any undergarments is in itself a disgrace. Dina is known for being one of the most provocatively dressed women who attempts to always appear in the least amount of clothing. The daily ended that the dancer represents everything that is against moral standards and should in not be referred to in any positive way.
Dina has recently denied all rumors of her fleeing Egypt and going off to Paris after a scandal of her involvement in pornographic movies with businessman Hussam Abdul Fatih, who is currently serving a jail sentence for money embezzlement, was revealed.
Dina had just returned to Cairo-Egypt after spending a two-week vacation in Lebanon and the US where she spent the New Year’s Eve and took time off to relax. The dancer expressed her disturbance at the shocking news of a her involvement in such a scandal saying that she did not imagine that taking a vacation and leaving Egypt would induce such news.
Dina admitted that she was secretly married to Hussam but the two had recently divorced. She also added that there is no involvement between her and the scandal as well as she has not committed any act by breaking the law that would force her to flee the country. Dina had said that she was never called in for questioning proving her innocent of such rumors as she intends to begin accepting offers to hold performances in Egypt.
Last week, rumors circulated that Dina had left Cairo-Egypt and ran-off to hide away in Paris-France after her involvement in pornographic movies was revealed. She had announced that she would not be holding any performances during the New Year’s Eve and cancelled all prior agreements made. A number of newspapers had said that Dina’s excuse for cancellation to most of the hotels and private parties she had contracted with was that her sister was in a sudden accident.
