Dina reveals troubled youth

For a second time, Egyptian belly dancer Dina has denied circulating rumors that she is suffering from a life threatening illness and that she has been hiding her illness to protect her career. The dancer also denied rumors about her intention to marry in the near future, stressing that these rumors are just attempts by individuals to ruin her image and cause tension between her and her only son, her number one priority.

According to the London based Elaph, Dina revealed that during her adolescence she attempted to commit suicide twice.  She also said that her mother is her role model for her strong devotion to raising her children.

Dina’s confessions came while she appeared as a guest on an Egyptian television program that is based on revealing secrets about guest artists.

Dina stated that dancing is not a taboo and is not considered against the teachings of Islam.  However, belly dancing outfits that are very revealing may be prohibited.

Dina suddenly fainted on the set of her upcoming television drama and was admitted to a hospital, which prompted the rumors in the Egyptian entertainment community that she is suffering from a serious illness. The director and producer of the drama granted Dina a leave of absence to recover.

The drama titled “Khadrat Al Mutaham Abi” (My Father the Accused) stars Egyptian actor Nour El Sharif.  Sharif and the cast and crew were sympathetic towards Dina and wished her a fast recovery.
