Despite her young age and her short time in the acting world, Egyptian actress Dunia Samir Ghanem is currently preparing for a major role portraying the life of the late renowned Egyptian singer/actress Laila Murad in a new film. She was chosen for the part by one of producer of the film who stressed that Dunia is the perfect candidate due to her voice and acting abilities.
According to the Qatar based daily, Al Raya, Dunia’s nomination for the role caused for a number of complaints made Egyptian actresses who are more experienced and have expressed their desire to portray the life of Murad. One of the actresses who was hoping to get the part is prominent Egyptian actress Yusra who expressed her disappointment that such a young actress who lacks the experience was chosen for such a major role.
Dunia’s debut was made in the TV series "Lil Adala Wujuh Katheera" (Justice Has Many Faces) two years ago, the young actress also represented Egypt in the "Megahertz" festival in Turkey, but this time as a singer and not an actress.
The Opera House has chosen Dunia to perform "Al Hub Wal Salam" (Love and Peace) song, written by Majdi Kamel and composed by Hani Shnudeh, at the song festival held in Turkey. The song calls for love and peace between the world's nations.
Dunia, the daughter of comedy star Samir Ghanem and actress Dalal Abdul Aziz, costarred in the Ramadan series "Zaman Emad Addine" (Emad Addine's Era) directed by Hani Lasheen.
