The Dutch Storioni Trio, Bart van der Roer (piano), Wouter Vossen (violin) and Marc Vossen (cello), will perform a recital on Saturday in Al Assad Library, Damascus.
The event is organized by the Netherlands embassy in cooperation with the Syrian ministry of culture and the High Institute of Music in Syria, according to the daily Syria Times.
The Storioni Trio Amsterdam was set up in 1995, and derives its name from the Laorentius Storioni violin from Cremona 1794, currently being played by Wouter Vossen. Marc Vossen plays a Giovanni Grancino cello from Milan from the year 1700.
The Trio has in the course of the years worked with members of the Tokyo Quartet, the Emerson Quartet, the Vermeer Quartet and the Altenberg Trio Vienna and world-renowned soloists such as Isaac Stern, Herman Krebbers, Peter Frankl, Boris Berman and Ralph Kirshbaum.

The Trio is featured regularly on radio and television.
In 1998, the Trio recorded their first CD, which was enthusiastically received by the press, and features works by Mozart, Brahms and Ives. The second CD of the Trio contains the complete piano trio works of Shostakovich (opus 8, opus 67 and opus 127), which is published in the year 2000.
