Egyptian actress Sanaa Jamil passes away at age 72

Sunday December 22, 2003 at 4pm, Prominent Egyptian actress Sanaa Jamil passed away at the age of 72. Hours before her death, the actress had woken up from a coma she had been in for three days after receiving chemotherapy treatment. The actress suffered from a cancerous tumor in her left lung and experienced failure in her respiratory system. Upon completion of the chemotherapy sessions doctors thought that Sanaa’s critical health condition was improving gradually as she regained consciousness, and were debating whether it is necessary to keep her in the intensive care unit or move her to a normal room at the hospital.  

According to the Egyptian daily Al Ahram, upon regaining consciousness before her death, she began to speak to her husband, journalist Luis Grace, asking him the details of her illness which she thought was just a flue. Sanaa was in shock and despair when she found out that she has cancerous tumors in her left lung. Her final words to her husband were that she wished he would bury her and arrange the proper funeral ceremony. 

The burial and funeral ceremony will take place at the Boutrus Church in Al Abassieh-Egypt. Her husband is currently making all necessary arrangements to make his wife’s funeral perfect in the sense that it suits her as a great woman and a prominent actress.  

During the hours when she woke up, Sanaa was able to communicate verbally with family and friends and hold small chitchats, which helped her cope with her health status. A number of close contacts and friends sent the actress flowers and made personal phone calls wishing her quick recovery. Sanaa did not forget to ask about her two puppies whom she said were dear to her. She asked her nephew to take good care of them since hospital regulations do not permit animals on their premises.  

Sanaa had experienced harsh health conditions while shooting her scenes for the Ramadan series “Abiad x Abiad” (White n White). Upon seeing her condition worsening, her husband admitted her into the hospital after consulting with her present doctor Yahia Said.
