The Egyptian censors refused to give the green light for screening the American film Delta Force 3 despite the fact that the film’s distributor had changed its title to “Squad For Bringing Bin Laden”.
After the film had been screened in presence of a large number of critics, the chief of the censorship department Madkour Thabet refused to give green light for the film which the distributing company has been attempting to screen since last year when the censors rejected it for the first time for harming Arabs and Muslims.
“The film is not worth of screening and it belongs to the second grade bad quality of action and violence films,” AFP quoted critic Ashraf al Bayyoumi as saying.
Other critics said, “the film humiliates Arabs as it features them as terrorists wearing the Palestinian Kufiyyah (Head Cover) with their leader Yaser Arafat in military uniform carrying out terrorist operations.”
Critics condemned the film for highlighting “bad and shameful situations particularly showing Arab women inside their houses wearing the female slaves costumes known in the west fantasy as prisoners for the enjoyment of men only. The film also depicts all Arab women who have to go shopping as veiled.”
It also shows that Arab men as cowards who forget their national duties by just a tempting look from a woman. This is clear in the scene about an American female soldier who managed through tempting a site officer to plant explosives and destroy a whole area.
The film also shows the Arab fighter as a drug addict who leaves his position in the battle and runs away when exposed to danger. It describes him as a soldier who doesn’t respect the life of his companions as he neither buries the dead ones nor does he defends the wounded at a time when the American soldier protects his wounded companions.
The film also shows a squad of 10 American soldiers and a woman who collaborates in bringing the terrorist leader from an Arab country called Solodlia. The assailant squad kills dozens of people without any mercy consolidating the theory of the super American.
The film was produced by Global company in 1991 under the direction of Sam Freesenburg and it was distributed by Metro Golden Mayor. It has come as part of a chain of films called Delta Force the first part of which was produced in 1986 by the Israeli director Menahem Golan. The film was shot in Israel and it was about a terrorist operation of Hijacking a plane and directing it to Beirut -- Albawaba.com
