The Egyptian censors demanded the omission of a number of scenes from the film Shabab A’la al Hawa (Young Men on the Air), which convict the Israeli embassy to Egypt and accuse it of carrying out a number of terrorist operations in Egypt.

The film is about a number of young men who decide to establish a satellite station that broadcast from the Cairo neighborhood of al Maadi. One day the station airs a video film about the problems of ordinary people but accidentally an operation of killing a prominent figure is seen filmed on the cassette. It is discovered that the Israelis and the Israeli ambassador to Egypt are the mastermind behind the killing operation.

“The censors demanded the omission of all the scenes which afflict the Israeli ambassador and those filmed inside the Israeli embassy and convict the Israelis. They also demanded the change of the film’s end,” the daily al Hayat cited one of those following up the production of the film as saying.

The film which the Egyptian screening venues will begin screening today is directed by Adel Awad, scripted by Mahmoud and Ibrahim Hamed and costarring Hanan Tork, Amir Shahin, Ahmed al Fishawi, Mohammed Mahmoud Abdul Aziz and Nelly Karam – Albawaba.com
