A new war breaks out in Egypt: Who is the head of the Egyptian Musician Union?
Eman Al Bahr Darwish claims he wants to fight corruption in the Egyptian Musician Union, while many of the members are fighting to keep him from returning as the head of the group.
After a court order reinstated the Egyptian singer as the head of the union, which had been run by Mustafa Kamel, the members held an emergency meeting and voted unanimously to keep Eman away from the leadership position.
According to Laha Magazine, the official spokesperson for the union Tareq Murtada said, "The emergency meeting was taken based on demands of the majority of the union's members that were affected by Eman's abuse of power when he interfered in stopping of their salaries and his constant threats of freezing the union's accounts in banks stating he had the official seal to do so. All these threats were made by Eman when he was head of the union."
Eman stressed that based on the court order he has every right to be reinstated in his position of head of the union and will begin performing his duties despite the "minority" of members that are against him.
“Everything Mustafa Kamel has said about me and accused me of...is not true. I won the libel and misdemeanor court case against Kamel, and it’s my right to get compensation, and Kamel is always saying negative things about me and my family that aren’t ever true. Mustafa said that my son has a court case against him for being involved in drugs (weed), but that’s totally untrue. The former Minister of Interior Habib Al Adli was punished for fabricating the same rumors against my son, but my son was proven innocent,” he fired.
