Egyptian Opera House to Present ‘Existence Intimacy’

The Cairo Opera Troupe will begin the international opera show Uns al Wujoud (Existence Intimacy) for four consecutive days as of next Monday in collaboration with the opera orchestra and coral led by Maestro Taha Naji. The show will be performed in Arabic, according to the daily al Gomhuria. 

Uns al Wujoud includes a script and poems by Salameh al Abbasi under the direction and implementation of Jihan Murci. 

The show was directed for the Opera House for the first time by Michael Gias from France. 

The script was prepared by the Egyptian musician Aziz al Shawwan, one of the second generation leading Arab and Egyptian writers. He wrote Existence Intimacy in 1970 and succeeded in shaping it with Egyptian cadences and managed through it to make the Arabic language suitable for the opera singing technology. He scripted many texts about Pharos the most important which were Ezis, Azoris and Abu Sunbol Ballets. 

The operetta depicts a love story between the poor Egyptian soldier Uns al Wugood and the daughter of the State Minister Ward al Akmam and the consequences of this social discrepancy including the conflicts and sacrifices which end with the victory of love and the surrender of the father to it. The operetta takes place in an era which represents the overlap between the Coptic and Islamic cultures on one hand and the Pharos culture on the other -- Albawaba.com
