Terrorism is the topic as Egypt's leading theater director, Hasan Abdel Salam, is gearing up to stage his new play Bin Adam, Al Ea’sar (Adam’s Son, the Hurricane), according to the daily Al Gomhuria.
“The play tackles terrorism through the chronological sequence of current events and developments. This is in addition to portraying the forms of real terrorism, which took place in the Sabra and Shatilla refugee camps in the Lebanese capital Beirut, the Egyptian city of Luxor and Cairo's Tahrir Square, and the current bloodshed in Palestine including the murdering of the Palestinian children, young men and the elderly."
"The play also focuses on the character of Israeli premier Sharon and on Zionism since it was established, and its desire for devastation, extortion and injustice,” the director said, cited by the daily.
The director added that “regarding the latest international events and their raising of previous issues, the play does not provide solutions, but rather a vision of the events and reactions to them.”
“Theater is supposed to depict what is going on in the entire world, and we must hurry up and present these events. This is to ensure that we are not behind the times, to express our point of view and to give the public the opportunity to understand the events taking place around them,” added Abdel Salam – Albawaba.com
