Last week was the first screening of the film “One to Zero” in Cairo. The film was written by Maryam Naoum, her first, and is directed by Kamila Abu Thikri.
The film stars famous Egyptian actress Elham Shaheen, Nelly Karim, Zainah, Khaled Abu Al Naja, Ahmad Al Fishawi and Intisar.
The film was well received by everyone that was present at the screening.
The events of the film begin on the day of a soccer match between the
Egyptian soccer team and the Cameroonian team, playing for the African Championship. The Egyptian team wins.
According to the London daily Elaph, Elham Shaheen plays the roled of a Christian woman, Niveen that has a relationship with a television broadcaster, Sharif, which is played by Khaled Abu Al Naja.
Niveen wasnts to marry Sharif, but the church refuses to give her permission because Niveen got divorced from her first husband legally and not by the laws of the church. She then discovers that she is pregnant.
Meanwhile, Sharif suffers from drug addition and alcoholism.
The actress Nelly Karim plays the role of a very strict Muslim woman that wears a Hijab “Muslim head cover” and also covers her face with a veil.
