Elham Shahin abandons the silver screen and moves to the cinema
Egyptian actress Elham Shahin has announced that after taking part in three different television drama series this year; she will now concentrate her efforts on participating in different films during the year 2004. The actress revealed that she will take part in two different films starting with "Kan Youm Hubak" (The Day of Your Love), which is written by scenarist Murad Muneer.
Elham added that the other film she will act in is "Alsaid Yahibak" (The Mister Loves You), written by Raouf Tawfiq, reported the London based daily, Al Sharq Al Awsat. Elham also revealed that she intends on staying away from the theater this year as well, saying that her last experience in the play "Bahlool in Istanboul", which lasted 5 years, alongside Egyptian actor Samir Ghanem was a successful one.
Recently, Shahin had expressed her anger over the schedule given to the television drama series that are aired during Ramadan, saying that her drama series “Nijmat Al Jamahir” (Superstar) was to be aired on a number of local and satellite television channels. The actress stressed that the series was noted to be among the best works to be produced this year and for that reason it should have been included in the month where the number of television viewers is at its peak.
Elham had sent a complaint to the Ministry of Information stating that “Nijmat Al Jamahir” does not coincide with her other drama series “Mas’alit Mabda” (A Matter of Priniciple), where the each can be aired on a separate Egyptian satellite channel. It was added that a number of other actors and actresses have sent similar complaints to the Ministry of Information stating that their drama series were also removed from the Ramadan TV lineup and moved to be aired at later times. - Albawaba.com
