The two stars are certainly in the Muslim Brotherhood's bad books but do they have anything else in common? When sultry Lebanese singer, Elissa, said this week that she was "obsessed" with Egyptian comedian, Bassem Youssef, fans wondered if the couple could ever work out.
Elissa couldn't help but blurt out her feelings for the funnyman all over her Twitter account: "he is very talented and presents an outstanding program", she gushed.
But does Bassem feel the same? The "Egyptian Jon Stewart" has made headlines this week by upsetting his nation's Islamists, including the Egyptian president, Mohamed Morsi. Elissa, for her part, has had her concert agents called "devil worshippers" for getting her on stage.
So perhaps the pair can bond over their Islamist upset?
Meanwhile the Lebanese songstress has been stirring up controversy in her own country with the music video for her new track, 'Asad Wahida' (The Happiest One). The star has been accused of stealing the idea for the footage from a TV commercial.
Director, Salim al Turk, admitted to taking inspiration from the ad, but said many other filmmakers had done the same thing.
