Elissa ridicules rumor of being banned from Egypt
Lebanese singer Elissa said during her appearance on the show ‘SuperStar’, which is aired on the satellite channel Al Hayah that the rumor of her being banned from entering Egypt is ridiculous and makes her laugh. Elissa stated that the same rumors had repeatedly been circulated in the past.
The singer stressed that despite all rumors created about her, upon her arrival to Egypt she was warmly welcomed by everyone, as is the case always.
During the show, Elissa revealed that her mother is of Syrian origin and she strongly condemns the brutality imposed on protesters calling for the resignation of the government and President Bashar Al Asad. She added that she prays to God that the bloodshed and killing of innocent people demanding their basic human rights would come to an immediate end.
Elissa also stated that she considers the blacklists of artists to be boycotted for their political views are ridiculous and hold no significance. She added that it is unjust to punish people holding demonstrations calling for their basic rights and stressed she is a strong supporter of democracy and the right to express one’s self.
