Prominent Lebanese singer Fadel Shaker has been accused of stealing the main song of his latest album “Saharni El Shouq”, which is also the title of the album, from a man named <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Fadi Salman. Fadi stressed to one of the newspapers that he was the one who wrote the words of the song, but Fadel had claimed that it belonged to him.
According to the London based Elaph, Fadi revealed that he had gone to the Composers and Poets Association to place the song in his name, but his request was denied, due to the fact that to have a song placed in anyone’s name they must have at least six others sung by singers.
Fadel stressed that he had written the words of the song himself, in a first time attempt as a poet, and that he had not taken it from anyone. Composer Nasr Al Asaad, who composed the song for Fadel stressed that all of Fadi’s claims are lies and that he is just trying to get a piece of Fadel’s stardom by spreading such rumors. Nasr added that it is very simple for anyone who was present while Fadel was rehearsing the song to memorize the words then claim that they wrote them.
The album, which is produced by Rotana, features thirteen songs varying between the Lebanese, Egyptian, and Khaliji (Gulf) accents. Shaker has worked with some of the most prominent composers and poets to ensure that the album is of the highest standards.
