Fairouz, Nagat al Saghira to Sing at Doha Cultural Fest
The Qatari capital Doha is gearing up to host the biggest cultural festival organized by the National Council for Culture, Arts and Heritage, as of March 20, 2002, according to the daily al Hayat.
The event will be opened with a national operetta, and concerts performed by Saudi Singer Mohammed Abdo, Lebanese Nawal al Zughbi and Ali Abdel Sattar from Qatar.
The second day will witness an exhibition for heritage and Islamic art collectibles and the inauguration of the Iraqi cultural week while the third day will witness folk shows at Doha Cornish and al Bedaa Garden in addition to children’s shows.
The Egyptian singer Nagat al Saghira will sing at a concert on the fourth day. The fifth day was scheduled for a poetic feature for a group of Arab poets, while the most prominent event will be marked by the participation of the Lebanese diva Fairouz who will sing on the eighth day at Defnah Hall.
A fair for the Egyptian Minister of Culture, Farouq Hosni, will be held at Bisan Hall.
On the last day of the festival, an intellectual forum will be held by Dr. Mohammed Abed al Jabiri and a poetic feature by the Palestinian poet Samih al Qasem in addition to shows by the Qatari Theatrical Troupe. Also Doha Cornish will witness the carnival of Freedom and Cultural Prince -- Albawaba.com
