Fairuz Denies Asking US$ 250,000 for Moroccan Concert
Following last week’s rumors that Lebanon’s own ambassador to the stars had asked the overwhelming sum of US$250,000 for a live concert, or US$125,000 for a playback performance, Fairuz denied that she had turned down any performances for financial reasons, according to thisiscyberia.com.
Earlier this year, Fairuz opened the International Festival of Dubai for US$600,000, which made her one of the highest-paid stars in the Arab music world.
The organizers of the Rabat Festival had asked Fairuz to follow Lebanon’s classical chanteuse Magida Roumi, who last year was one of the festival’s absolute highlights.
Sources close to the Arab diva told thisiscyberia.com that she "did not even discuss" financial matters with the Moroccan festival. They say that she refused because of her already tight schedule this summer.
Fairuz will perform for her local fans at the Beiteddine Festival for the second year in a row, giving three concerts with her son Ziad Rahbani on July 27, 28 and 31 – Albawaba.com
