Prominent Egyptian actor Farouq Al Fishawi has been arrested by Lebanese airport security for drug smuggling. Farouq who was in Lebanon on a short vacation accompanied by his son Ahmad was caught red handed with bags of drugs strapped to his chest, when he was about to board his flight to return home.
According to the Al Watan daily, a source at the airport revealed that Farouq was shocked to learn that there was an order to have him searched, and thought that since he is a famous actor no one would bother him with the routine procedures. The source added that the amount of drugs the actor was caught with is enough for personal use to some extent, as well as may be used to sell.
On a different note, the recent secretive trip of Farouq to Paris has given rise to numerous rumors regarding the nature of the sudden trip. Many have speculated that Farouq went to Paris to undergo a number of medical tests and wanted to conceal the truth behind his health condition, especially due to the fact that he had recently encountered a deterioration to his health and was admitted to hospital.
The actor revealed upon to his return that his trip was for mere leisure and that his health is in perfect condition. Farouq stressed that he is not obliged to notify anyone that he intends on going on vacation and that the matter is of no concern to anyone but himself.
