Faten Hamama expresses her fascination with Majida Al Roumi
Lebanese singer Majida Al Roumi was in complete surprise when the Algerian French radio station called to give her two recorded letters by Egyptian director Yousuf Shaheen and Prominent Egyptian actress Faten Hamama expressing their fascination with her. According to the monthly magazine Nadine, Majida was overwhelmed when she heard what the great actress had commented with regards to her singing.
Faten Hamama expressed to the French station talking fluently in French that she was a big fan of Majida, and felt she is one of the greatest singers of the Arab world. She added that when hearing Majida sing she gets a feeling of ecstasy that puts her in state of complete astonishment.
On a different note, Majida will return to the music scenes after a three-year absence to work on her upcoming new album. The singer plans to record and shoot one of the album’s song entitled “Hal Tasma’ani” (Do You Hear Me) before releasing her tape in the next upcoming days.
In addition, last October, Majida performed a special concert in Beirut with proceeds benefiting the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Al Roumi was elected FAO’s Ambassador from Lebanon earlier this year to go on a fact-finding tour about the people’s conditions in a number of Arab and African countries to report them to the organization officials. The tour is scheduled to start at the beginning of next summer.
