The Egyptian screenwriter Mustafa Muharram is currently embarking on writing the script for the new series Arbaa Wa Eshreen Saah Fakat (Twenty Four Hours Only). The renowned Egyptian actress Faten Hamamah welcomed her nomination to play the starring role in the series.
“When I read the story, I said there was no body in Egypt who can play the starring role better than Faten Hamamah who if nixes it will spur us to cancel the series project. I was surprised when the writer told me that she had read and liked the story. An agreement was signed with her while she was on vacation at one of the coastal areas in Egypt. As soon as she returns to Cairo, we will begin meetings to gear up for the series to be directed by Adel al A’sar. Hamamah demanded the series to be comprised of 20 episodes only because she does not like lengthy productions,” Muharram told the daily al Gomhuria.
The series is about the earthquake, which rocked Cairo in 1992. Hamamah plays the role as a mother living alone in the countryside while her sons live in the city. The mother suffers from psychological problems because her sons neglect her. She expects them to call on the same day on which the earthquake took place and because they do not call, she goes to Cairo searching for them. She meets different people and faces strange reactions by some people towards any catastrophe while she was searching for her sons.
“Hamamah is the only actress who has not collaborated with me in any artwork because I did not find a script that suited her. But when I read the new script Twenty Four Hours Only, I imagined her in every line I read and I think the series will feature her in a completely new framework,” added Muharram—Albawaba.com
