After the competition was limited to four films during the last Fiter Feast, preparations are underway for the films to be screened during the upcoming al Adha Feast holiday with five films participating so far, confirming that the Egyptian film season was weak this year.
More than 100 screening venues have so far been booked to screen the five films during the feast holiday. These include al Saher (Magician) starring Mahmoud Abdel Aziz and Salwa Khattab under the direction of Radwan al Kashef and al Raghbah (Desire) starring Nadia al Gondi and Elham Shahin. Ahmed Adam will compete with his film al Ragol al Abyad al Mutawasst starring Sumayyah al Kahahsab. The films Haramiyyah K.G.2 by Karim Abdel Aziz under the direction of Sandra Nashat and Udkhulooha Aminin (Enter it Safely) starring Yousef Mansour will also participate in the competition.
On the other hand, the audience has been used to the emergence of a new style in every new Egyptian cinema season. After the films, which bore the titles of famous songs, the season of “riot films” as dubbed by some critics has begun. Four films of this type are being geared up now.
After actresses Shams, Wahbeh Kamel and Salwa Bader had wrapped up shooting their film Mushaghibat Rayheen Gayeen scripted and directed by Khaled Abdel Mene’m, the Tunisian star Hind Sabri who played the starring role in the film Muthakkarat Murahikah (Adolescent Memoirs) directed by Enas al Deghaidi and in the film Muwaten, Mukhber Wa Harami (Citizen, Detective and Thief) along with Daoud Abdel Sayyed is gearing up for her third experience in the Egyptian cinema. This will be her role in the film entitled Awdat Madrasat al Mushaghibeen along with Hala Shiha, Salah Abdulla and A’laa Murcy.
Also the screenwriter Ahmed al Baih has wrapped up scripting his film Mushaghibat Talat Nugoom (Three Star Rioters) starring Hisham Abdel Hamid, Abeer Sabri and Amirah under the direction of A’laa Karim -- Albawaba.com
