George Kirdahi presents a version of the Larry King talk show in Arabic
Popular game show host George Kirdahi, presenter of “Man Sayarbah Al Malyoon” (Who wants to be a Millionaire) and known to have reached the hearts and homes across the Arab world and the west, has signed a contract with MBC's new news network "Al Arabiyah" to host a new political talk show. George's new program is an imitation of the popular Larry King Live show, which is aired on CNN.
According to the Saudi based daily Al Riyadh, Kirdahi will host a political talk-show on “Al Arabiyah” that will tackle current issues, and will feature different guests as is done on Larry King Live. The presenter has also renewed his contract with MBC for his game show, which he will continue to present.
Last year in early August, it was rumored that George had announced his resignation from ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’, and renewed his deal with MBC to host a different program that may not appear on MBC, which is said to be focused on discussions of current hot issues. The rumor also had it that the show will permanently cease on New Years Eve 2003, and would be a memory to cherish, unless another presenter could be found, having the same characteristics of Kirdahi.
George is known to be one of the few presenters working for MBC, who will be making appearances on two channels at the same time. “Al Arabiyah” is a news channel said to be in competition with “Al Jazeera” for Arab audience.
On a different note, Kirdahi announced that he will not be accepting any offers to act in any film saying that he prefers to remain with one profession in which he is an expert in and be successful, rather than many and risk failure.
George Kirdahi started off as a journalist, staying a journalist for 3 years, until in 1973 he decided to work in broadcasting, where he started preparing news programs for the Lebanese TV for five years, where he then moved to France to escape the conflicts of war during the Lebanese civil war. He went to Monte Carlo where he worked in the Monte Carlo broadcast from 1977 to 1992, broadcasting political programs and moving up to the post of Head of Press. –Albawaba.com
