As the release date approaches for the new album by prominent Syrian/Lebanese singer George Wassouf, which marks his return after a prolonged absence, sources have revealed that the songs of the album have been leaked to black markets in Syria and Lebanon.

According to the Qatar based daily, Al Raya, the matter has reached internet website, and one has even started streaming one of the songs and providing the option of downloading it for free. This leakage of the album means great losses for the production company Rotana, since it will lessen profits from original album sales.

An official source in the Dubai Rotana office has denied that the songs of the album are leaked and stressed that the song that is being offered on the internet website is incomplete therefore not posing any threat. The source added that the company does not know how the song was leaked.

This is not the first time the singer is faced with such a problem, as the instance has occurred with his two previous albums, which were both produced by Rotana. In both instances the company was faced with great losses and was forced to release the albums before their scheduled dates.

After a long absence, Wassouf is making a comeback to the scenes with the new album “Hia Al Ayam” (It’s the Days). The album is scheduled for release in stores during this July.

George has worked with a number of prominent composers and poets. The album is said to feature some new styles that the singer will introduce for the first time.

Wassouf’s last appearance on the scenes was the single “Ya Mariam Hasna’ Al Hayat” (Oh Mariam you are the delight of Life).
