Prominent Lebanese/Syrian singer George Wassouf has made a comeback with a new single “Ya Mariam Hasna’ Al Hayat” (Oh Mariam you are the delight of Life) to be released in the coming days.
The last album the singer released was “It’khart Ikteer” (You are too late), featuring five only songs.
Last year George suffered severe bronchial infections forcing him to call of a number of scheduled concerts around the Arab world.
George recently gave a three-hour interview to expose his tattered relationship with ‘Rotana’ and the difficulties he has faced with the company.
During the interview George revealed that he had been ill for the past two years and no one from Rotana had even graced him with a phone call to inquire about his condition.
The host pointed out that Rotana came to welcome him in the airport, and George retorted, “It is ‘Rotana’s’ duty as a production company to welcome me at the airport.”
George claimed that Rotana brings on new managers every year who devalue the company, exhibited by falling record sales.
George would like to sever ties with ‘Rotana,” but they have not agreed to let him go.
The interview began with the continuous cheers of his two thousand fans inside the studio and more than eight thousand gathered in the streets.
Several stars appeared during at the interview, including Abdullah Belkhair, Laila Gofran, Jawad Ali, Mirna Khayyat, Tony Abu Elyas, Tony Kahwaji, and Nishan Harotionian.
George is preparing his upcoming album, to be released by “Rotana” this fall.
