Lebanese singer George Wassouf has without prior notice decided that he will not renew his contract with the Music Production Company Rotana, which has been his tradition to do in the past years. The singer had gone off on a trip to the United States of America to get away from everything and relax, and upon his return he surprised the officials at Rotana with his latest decision and told them that this time he does not plan to proceed with them when his contract ends.

According to the Saudi based daily, Al Riyadh, the real reason behind George’s decision was not clear, but it was revealed that he had received a very generous offer from a different production company. Some stated that the reason behind George leaving Rotana is due to a number of disputes that exist between him and the administration of the company. It was added that a few years back, a major dispute had fell between George and Rotana over financial issues, but was resolved by close contact to both sides.

George stressed that his decision this time is final and he does not intend on going back on it. He added that he is not obliged to give any justification for his walking out, for the contract between him and Rotana ends very soon and he is free to join the production of his choice.

The release of the album “Salaf Wa Dain" (Borrow and Debt) has proven that Wassouf is still dominating the number one spot in the music charts bringing in the highest record sales. The singer witnessed this success around the entire Arab world and is heading towards being noted the best and number one album to be released this year. The singer is also experiencing a similar success on his personal website, which turned out to be the largest and most visited website for any one singer. The site also holds the largest number of members reaching over 9 thousand names. –Albawaba.com
