Haifa Wahbi forbids Rula Saed from singing with her
Lebanese singer Haifa Wahbi has caused the elimination of her colleague Lebanese singer Rula Saed from the Rotary Illiteracy charity event in Cairo, after Rula was previously scheduled to perform with her and Egyptian singer Amr Diab. It was revealed that Haifa had agreed to sing at the event and with no charge on the condition that Rula does not perform.
According to the London based daily, Al Hayat, Haifa’s condition was immediately agreed to and the organizers of the event immediately informed Rula that she was not needed to perform and gave her a diplomatic excuse for her elimination.
Some have speculated that Haifa’s attitude was a result of her fear that Rula may steal the spotlight from her even though she is considered as a newcomer to the music industry, has gained significant success especially in Egypt. Other have stated that the real reason is Rula’s business manager, Karim Abi Agha, who used to be Haifa’s manager but then left her and went to Rula.
The concert took place in Egypt on February 24 alongside prominent Egyptian singer Amr Diab at the Marriott hotel in Cairo, where proceeds of the event will go directly to the fight against illiteracy project under the patronage of Egypt’s First Lady Suzan Mubarak and the Rotary Club
Haifa is living a state of extreme ecstasy after winning the award for the most popular Arab singer at the Murex D’or Music Awards. The singer is currently waiting for her latest music video “Bidi Eish” (I Want to Live), under the direction of Saeed Al Marouq, to be aired on Rotana music channel.
