Haifa Wahbi promises to uncover new talents
Before heading on a tour around the Arab world, Lebanese singer Haifa Wahbi was on an outdoor photo shoot in an old antique shop and enjoying being complemented as she was smiling for the camera. While taking pictures, the daily Al Rai Al Aam held a short interview with the singer, in which she revealed that she intends on surprising her fans in ways they never imagined possible.
Haifa admitted that she had not put in all her efforts in her first album for she was saving all her talents for her upcoming release. She added that her upcoming album is surely to create a shock to all her fans for they will see her in a way they never before.
The singer had also said that she is hoping on shooting two more songs from her first album in the form of a music video before shooting any of the songs from the new one.
Egyptian singer/actor Mustafa Amar held countless negotiations with Wahbi for the leading role of his upcoming film “Autograph”. Amar's efforts in convincing Haifa to star in the film were fruitless for she had stated that for the time being she does not intend on mixing her singing career with an acting one. Haifa added that if she is to star in any film she prefers that there not be a time limit for completion due to the fact that she does not like to be rushed at anything.
Last month, Haifa held a concert in Egypt with over one thousand people attending, sponsored by the Alexandria Rotary club. While in Egypt, Haifa was the guest of honor on Dream TV in which the producers surprised her with the music video for the song “Wahdi” (All Alone) from her latest album as their special gift.
Haifa revealed that the video was shot in a way that was one hundred percent natural with no acting or previous preparations and without her knowledge. The singer added that she is currently preparing for her upcoming album in which she is cooperating with composers from Egypt and Lebanon. In Lebanon, Haifa was honored by NDU University for being the best young female artist.
During the US-led war on Iraq, Haifa did not hold any performances or any other sort of entertainment in solidarity with the Iraqi people who were living through the harsh conditions. She said that she feels it would be very insensitive of her or any other singer to have held any form of entertainment while people are being slaughtered. The scenes brought by the coverage of the war have caused her to fall into a depressive state of mind.
After the success she received for her album "Huwa el Zaman" (It's the Time), Haifa announced that she is to quit modeling with no intentions to any return dedicating all her time to her musical career. "Though lots of people advised me to stick to modeling, I decided to leave this stage behind me, moving on to add a singing career to my portfolio," Wahbi said.
Despite all criticism Wahbi faced concerning the shift in career last year, she stuck her ground and continued recording her ten-song album "Huwa el Zaman", which took her almost a year to complete. - Albawaba.com
