Egyptian folkloric singer Hakim has announced that on October 4, 2003, he will finally begin shooting the first scenes for his new movie “Hasan Safari”. The film had been postponed a number of times due to the fact that a leading actress was not found to take part alongside Hakim, but the singer decided that he will dedicate his time completely to work on the film, which will mark the beginning of his acting career, calling off most of the concerts scheduled in this time period the Kuwaiti based daily, Al Qabas reported.
Hakim will play the role of young man who is madly in love with traveling but a failure in his everyday life. The sequence of events will take Hakim to Europe where he meets a man who sponsors a number of concerts for Arab singers and decided to give Hakim a chance. After having the opportunity to sing in Europe, Hakim becomes a popular singer known all around the World. At this point he decides to return to Egypt hoping to get fame there as well only to find that his popularity has already reached his homeland. The film is directed by Said Hamid and written by screenwriter Majdi Al Kadash.
Hakim is also preparing to travel to the United States of America to begin recording a new duet with American pop singer Janet Jackson, sister of internationally known American pop star Michael Jackson. The music video for the new duet "Walk Like an Egyptian" is scheduled to be filmed at the Great Pyramids in Egypt.
Hakim will also be filming another duet American singer James Brown at the Great Pyramids. Both duets are to shake the music industry with songs that blends Western and Eastern styles in one. After countless negotiations, Hakim had finally struck a deal with Brown and the two agreed on singing the duet under the title “Al Lail” (Night), which is scheduled to be released in the very near future.
Due to the lack of having enough time to perform the song together, James has recorded his section of the song in studios in San Francisco California, and Hakim in Cairo Egypt. The song is written by Hisham Abdul Rahim and composed by Mohammad Siraj.
Hakim had previously revealed in a press conference that he has reached an agreement for a duet with US pop singer Brian Adams. Hakim has also agreed with Latino pop singer Paulina Rubio for a duet. Hakim had held negotiations with singer Latoia Jackson for a duet but nothing came of it.
Hakim has proudly announced that he is expecting his first born child from his second wife Jihan in mid-September. The singer has expressed he joy at being a father to a third child and has stressed that he intends on completing the recording of his upcoming album as quick as possible in order to stand by his wife while his new baby comes into the world. –Albawaba.com
